Factual and fair

Newsweek Vault makes their readers as their top priority. That means that their experts and editors—not advertisers—drive decisions about what products they cover and how they cover them. They weigh product pros and cons across topics like credit cards, banking, loans, and more. Above all, they present readers with realistic options that might align with their personal finance needs.

“The Vault” is committed to bringing content that’s factual and fair so that readers can make the most informed decisions for their financial journey. Their content includes reviews, best lists, and educational guides that answer some of the most common questions across the personal finance industry—all based on hours of research and data-backed methodologies.

Starting the Financial Journey

Creating an enticing homepage and article page layout was crucial to draw people in so they can make the most informed decisions for their financial journey.

Wireframes

The wireframe stage is the most important part of any web design project. This phase allows everyone to understand how the site will be laid out without spending too much time and effort.

Custom Elements

Creating a set of custom illustrations and icons allowed to expand the Newsweek brand and introduce new UI elements and not have to rely so much on stock imagery.

A name that sticks

Working collaboratively with the Newsweek team, we were able to come up with a wordmark that fit into the existing overall brand that has been around for over 90 years, but can still stand on it’s own.

Going with the flow

Given the large amount of content that would be used on the site, having a good flow and hierarchy allows the reader to scan through and still understand what they are seeing. This was important throughout all the different sections.

System Modules

Building out the rest of the web elements, keeping a consistent design system was very important for a good user experience. Everything from CTA’s, to review cards, author bio modals, calculators, ads, and more had to speak the same visual language in an effective way.
